Writing Spot Hijinks

DUN! DUN! DUN!
MY WRITING SPOT!

Okay so grab your notebook and pen and come along with me. (No laptop—no, no, no, sorry. We're in my territory now!) Hike up yonder grassy hill . . .

Ah, look back to see how far you've come. Don't you just feel so alive? So insanely creative?

Plop down your chair in crazy high grass. All hidden now? Good. We're in stealth writer mode. Dum-de-dum-de-dum. What to write, what to write.
Oh yeah—
Priscilla threw the sword in the air with such precision, it pierced the gargoyle in the eye and dangled the climbing rope all the way down to her
slippered toes . . . . .

Phwew! Done with my writing goal. Pack em up and roll down the hill. I mean, walk gracefully, without falling down. I'll roll another day. In shorter grass. With no possibility of snakes or other creepy-alive-stuff.
Hey. Hold on. That huge impression in the grass looks really creepy. Ominous-like. Do you see it? Look close. You must see it! What on earth made such a gigantuan indent in the hill? Or MAYbe it wasn't from our planet! I'm outta here.

Whoa, those cows are staring at me. I mean seriously, they won't look away. Are they planning an attack? Practicing advanced mind control they learned from the Martians? Chanting a spell under their stinky bovine breaths? Um—speed walking to the car now. Don't look em in the eye. Don't let em know you're afraid.

Running, running, running. In the car. Start it up. Back it up. Down the road. I made it! HaHaHa! Foiled you, you brainless cows. Hmm . . . wonder if I'll find evil, take-over-the-world cows in my manuscript when I read over it tomorrow.

SO HEY, TELL ME ABOUT YOUR WRITING SPOT!

I wish I had one with a view. Mine is at a desk or in the library.

I just sit at a TV tray on the comfy leather chair in my living room. Sometimes I sit at a desk, and rarely, I head over to a local coffee shop. But mostly it's the TV tray and chair thing. Until "grown-up" furniture shows up :)

Oh, your spot is much better than mine. An uncomfortable couch without a view. Pathetic. Perhaps I shall venture outside while the weather is still nice!

I love your spot! NY doesn't have many like that. I'm a coffee house writer or a "pretend to be working but really writing away" writer. (If only my manager new why her reports got in late last week!) Love the pictures :)

I've moved to a new apartment so I'm still looking for my spot! I wish I had one like yours, though.

That was a hilarious post! Those cows were totally staring. My spot is wherever I happen to be when I've got time to write--I keep a small notebook in my purse or on my person at all times. If I have ten minutes or an hour, I whip it out and get to work! The only problem with this system is when I'm ready to work on subsequent drafts and need to use the computer to do so. Then my spot is wherever I can go with my laptop that I will be undisturbed for five minutes or longer.

Brenda, you make me giggle. Who am I kidding, I was completely unlady-like guffawing.

I just read that creative people needed a creative space for them to create in. I have been working on creating one in my room but I'm kinda at a stalemate. I feel much better about writing if the kids can see me and harass me every couple of minutes so I'm still on the couch...

You are so hilarious! I love reading your posts. With such a beautiful writing spot it's probably hard not to be inspired when writing. I never trusted cows.

That is scary, Brenda. The landscape matches what I wrote in my last book so well. Grassy hills aplenty. I have no cool writing spot. Just a humble nook that I like to think is fancy. :)

Thanks for taking us on your fun writing journey! I really enjoyed it, and am glad you got away from those craze cows. My spot - not nearly as exciting: the kitchen table.

I love to go up to Sundance Ski Resort. It's beautiful any time of the year and so picturesque. Plus my cell phone doesn't usually work up there so it's a great getaway. As long as my laptop battery lasts. lol

Your spot makes my desk sound boring. But hey, at least I don't have snakes or cows.

Such an awesome writing spot! My writing spot is curled in my bed with a cup of tea. ;)

You're so funny! And how fun to share your writing spot with us. I don't have a laptop so I mostly write in my cave. But when I'm somewhere else, I always carry a small notebook and my favorite pen with me just in case.

Nothing as beautiful as your grassy spot though.

I haven't been able to look at cows without thinking of "The Far Side" comic strip, so I wouldn't have been able to write in your spot, fresh and green though it is. :)

My writing spot is just my computer desk. If I could choose anything different, it would probably still be my computer desk - windows nearby would probably be too much of a distraction.

My spot shifts, currently it's the recliner.
This is a great post--creative and funny. Love it.

I need a writing spot like yours :-) Sometimes I'll go to the library for a change of pace, and being surrounded by all those books is certainly inspiring!
