TODAY'S THE DAY FOR AMY LUNDERMAN'S RETRO SUMMER BLOGFEST!
Zip on over to her blog and get to know this Amazing writer at The Ramblings of Amy! http://amylunderman.blogspot.com/
She's Fantastic I tell you, Fantastic!
SO HERE'S WHAT AMY SAID ABOUT THE BLOGFEST—
"Ever been spring (summer) cleaning and you found something you haven’t seen in a while? This happened to me. What I found was a ton of old unused mixed CD's. I must have spent hours listen to them, since they weren’t even labeled (typical fashion in my part), and I was cracking up the entire time over what I used to like."
AND HERE'S WHAT SHE SAID TO DO —
Find and old mixed audio cd that you haven’t listened to in a while and post the following:
- Try to write down all the tracks: Artists and song title.
- Write what they mean to you and why you like it.
WHAT HAVE I DONE?!!
THE SECOND YOU HEAR/SEE THE SONGS I LISTED, YOU'LL GET AN INKLING OF MY AGE.
HOLD ON, I'M SCRAMBLING . . .
OKAY, SEE, THESE ARE ACTUALLY MY WAY OLDER SISTER'S SONGS. I . . . FOUND THEM IN MY STUFF AND . . .
YEAH, YEAH, I'M DIGGING MY HOLE WAY TOO DEEP.
FINE.
HERE YOU GO. Rrr. GRUMBLE.
So, back in my retro days, I loved to tape songs off the radio. But sadly, oh so sadly, I didn't find any of my tapes. But hold on, don't run away, I rememberized a few of my fave songs.
THE SONGS
One late, late night, I was doing homework or some such thing, and this song came on the radio. Zing! My music antennae went up, but I wasn't prepared to record it. Rrr, I was mad - I wanted that song. I'd never heard the tune before and it was a long time before I heard it again. And when I did, I pushed the record button like a flash!
WALKING ON BROKEN GLASS
by Annie Lennox
Instead of watching the goofy video, you could just close your eyes and listen. Aah, much better that way.
The summer before 9th Grade, I went to stay with my aunt for 2 weeks who is 3 years older than me. She was so cool and I had a blast being part of her world and meeting new BOYS. While I was there, this song played on the radio. I've loved it ever since. I can just close my eyes and get lost in it. It feels so intensely creative and all sorts of imaginative marvelosities pop into my head when I listen to it.
DREAM WEAVER
by Gary Wright
I performed this next one with a few friends for a lip-syncing contest at a dance place. What a riot! I almost became famous. Almost. So close, oh so close.
ROCK LOBSTER
by the B-52'S
I dare you to keep from jamming out.
This one makes my heart throb to listen to it. I'm swooning now. Not for the singer, oh no, but for that delicious feeling of being in love. Sigh. Give it a listen and stand by a chair in case you faint from the pounding in your heart. Close your eyes for this one too, definitely close your eyes.
HEAVEN
by Bryan Adams
And one more - because robots are so cool. Forever have been, forever will be. Listen and be amazed. Yeah, I'm that cool. Blows your mind doesn't it?
MR. ROBOTO
by Styx
Hey, thanks for listening to my Retro Spiel! Head on over to the other Retro Summer Blogfest Blogs for awhile. I'll meet you there.

What an awesome blogfest!!! This was too fun!! Great entry! It's amazing to see the creativity that moves along the blog. I shouldn't be shocked but I am every time. Even more impressive than the last!
Love your selections! These are all songs that should've been on my own mix tapes. Especially the B-52s and Styx.
Oh, I love Annie Lennox. Her voice is unmatched. Great list!
Great selection Brenda!
I have a few mixes with Annie Lennox, B-52'S, Bryan Adams, and Styx. Those are really great listens and I'm definitely having to dig them out for another listen! :)
Thank you for participating and the super nice shout out - you rock!
I had Mr. Roboto on mine as well! Great songs - all of them. Annie Lennox is a goddess!
Fun list! I think I had Bryan Adams on every mixed tape I made.
I didn't go back that far for my mixed CD, but judging from the songs, you can't be that old. (Not older than me anyway!) Never knew there was a video for Dream Weaver, either.
Walking on Broken Glass is one of my favorite songs!
I LOVE each of those songs! I'm the hugest fan of B52 music (yeah, I'm a little quirky like that) and who doesn't like Mr. Roboto, I ask?
I love a lot of those songs. Great list.
Oh my! I totally forgot about "Dream Weaver". I so have to download that!
Great blogfest! Love it.

Who are all those people? I've never heard of any of them because I'm so young. Ha ha! So kidding you, my friend! Those took me back for sure! :D Miss you BTW!
I think my junior prom theme song was Heaven. Oh, wait! Did I just give an inkling of my age? Dang it!
creating mixed cds is so much fun,
like writing a poem.
